TEAM,
I'm an American moving to Stuttgart from the US state of Virginia with a C3004MATIC. I want to put winter tires on the vehicle before I ship it in a few weeks. Current tires are P225/45 R17 front and P245/40 R17 rear. Do you cats go with one size for winter or match the sizes of your summer tires.

The tyre combination on your car would be illegal on a car registered in Germany. Doesn't matter, as long as your car remains on US plates.
Irrespective of such puny details like legislation, you should go narrower and less low profile for your winter tyres.
